Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026
NET-C (https://netc.com.ng) is an online community and toolkit for teachers in Nigeria. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use NET-C, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
1. Data we collect
Account data. When you sign up with email or with Google, we receive your email address and, from Google, your name and profile picture. We do not receive your Google password.
Profile data. Information you add to your profile, such as your name, school, the grade levels and subjects you teach, years of experience, and avatar.
Content you create. Posts, comments, reactions, saved items, blog articles, chat messages and images, reports you submit, and resources you upload together with their details (title, description, source, copyright status, exam body and year).
AI tool inputs. Text and images you submit to AI Labs features such as the lesson plan generator, essay grading and audio briefings, and the results they produce.
Technical data. Login session cookies, and limited request information such as IP address and browser details that our hosting and security systems record to keep the service working and to prevent abuse.
2. How we use your data
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To run the community: show your profile, posts and resources to other members.
- To review shared resources and moderate content against our community rules.
- To provide AI Labs features you choose to use.
- To prevent spam and abuse, for example by limiting how often uploads and AI requests can be made.
- To fix errors and improve the service.
We rely on your consent and on our need to provide the service you signed up for. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
3. What other members can see
Your name, avatar, school and teaching details, and anything you post or upload in the community are visible to other signed-in members. Published blog articles may be visible to the public. Do not post personal information about students or others in public areas.
4. Service providers we share data with
We use the following providers to run NET-C. They process data on our behalf and only for that purpose:
- Supabase: account sign-in and our database.
- Google: sign in with Google, and Gemini AI models that process AI Labs requests.
- Deepgram: converts text to speech for audio features.
- Cloudflare: stores uploaded files and avatars (R2) and delivers our domain.
- Appwrite: hosts the website.
- Upstash: short-lived usage counters used for rate limiting.
- Sentry: error reports, if error monitoring is enabled.
Some of these providers store or process data outside Nigeria. Where that happens we rely on their contractual and security safeguards. We may also disclose data if the law requires it.
5. Students' information and AI tools
If you submit student work to AI Labs (for example an essay to grade), remove names and other details that identify the student first. AI-generated content can be inaccurate, so please review it before using it with learners.
6. Cookies
We only use cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect your session. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
7. How long we keep data
We keep your account and content while your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep something for legal reasons or to resolve a dispute. Moderation records may be kept longer to protect the community.
8. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, download or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, or to object to how we use it. You can update most profile details yourself in the app. For anything else, email hello@netc.com.ng. We aim to respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
9. Security
We use encrypted connections, access controls on our database, checks on uploaded files, and limits on how our systems can be used. No online service is completely secure, so please use a strong password and tell us if you notice anything suspicious.
10. Who the service is for
NET-C is for teachers and education professionals aged 18 or over. It is not designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy. If the changes are significant we will tell you in the app before they take effect. Questions about privacy can be sent to hello@netc.com.ng. See also our Terms of Service.
